Empress Theatre’s Generation: Beat! Grand Opening Jeff Bordes and Friends

The Grand Opening of Generation Beat! celebrates the art & literary genius of artist, poet and activist Lawrence Ferlinghetti. The Temple Art Lofts Gallery will feature an extensive collection of Ferlinghetti paintings along with informational videos will be available in the gallery about the artist and his work. A "Beat Era Happening" will be produced by Obtainium Works outside the Empress Theatre. While viewing the exhibition you can enjoy music by the Adam Briere Trio. The Ferlinghetti Art Collection is provided courtesy of the Rena Branson Gallery and the LF trust. Jerry Cimino will be bringing the historic Beat Museum mobile unit providing information and talks in the Empress Lounge. The Grand Opening concert on the Empress main stage features world-renowned jazz trumpeter Jeff Bordes. Jeff has performed and recorded with esteemed artists such as Jon Faddis, Branford Marsalis, Alex Acuna, Giovanni Hidalgo, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Richie Cole, David Garibaldi, Tom Petty, Steve Earle, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, Karl Denson, Sugarhill Gang, Dana Carvey and most recently, John Mellencamp. Jeff will be joined by guitarist Ken Cefalo, Steve Carter on piano, Hunter Van Dam on bass, Danny Sandoval on saxophone, Darius Minaee on drums, and vocalist Meredith McHenry. Join us in the Empress Lounge for our after-party. All patrons are required to show proof of vaccination.
