The story is based on Virgil’s The Aeneid and tells the tale of love and tragedy between Dido, Queen of Carthage, and the Trojan hero Aeneas. This beloved gem includes stunning choruses, duos, trios and the iconic aria "Dido’s Lament". In contrast to Dido and Aeneas’ measured passions, Pagliacci is full of uncontrollable passion, jealousy, tragedy, murder, and betrayal. Laugh and weep with Canio as he sings "Vesti la giubba" (the clown who cries behind his makeup).
