The Strategic Plan is the result of nearly nine months of work in 2017. “I am happy and excited to see that my top priority as 2017 Vallejo Chamber Board Chair is finally ready to be rolled out,” said Marisela Barbosa. “Strategic planning was a lengthy process that included staff, two CalChamber certified facilitators, several subcommittees meetings, and the 2017 & 2018 Board of Directors input at our annual Planning Conference.”

The purpose of this document is to guide the Chamber’s planning and prioritization process. This is important for developing organizational continuity and consistency year-to-year as the makeup of the Board changes every year. Future Board Chairs will use this planning document to help shape the agenda for their year leading the Board. Outside the Board room, Chamber and community members will have a clear understanding of the Chamber’s mission, vision, and focus for the years ahead.

James Cooper, President/CEO, sees this as a key step in growing the organization. “Planning documents are signposts for other leaders in the community. The documents signify the organization is serious about its intentions, and is willing to commit those intentions to paper and broadcast to the world.” The Strategic Plan is the first of these documents.

The plan will be posted on the Chamber’s website, VallejoChamber.com. Chamber and community members are encouraged to review the document and forward comments to the Chamber. “Planning documents are “living documents” that will be reviewed periodically for potential updates,” said Cooper. “Your input is both welcome and necessary.”

“I believe that strategic planning is critical to succeed,” added Marisela. “Going through the process gave us an opportunity to look at our vision and mission. It also defined our strategy and set priorities so the organization can strengthen our services. The strategic plan is the roadmap for Vallejo Chamber Commerce board of directors and staff.”
