Maritime Academy
The
California Maritime Academy (CMA) is one of the twenty-three
campuses of the California State University (CSU) system. Founded
in 1929, it is the only maritime college in the Western United
States. Today, the California Maritime Academy is a marine-oriented
college of business and technology offering degrees in Business
Administration, Facilities Engineering Technology, Global Studies,
Marine Engineering Technology, Marine Transportation, and Mechanical

Solano
Community College – Vallejo Campus
Solano Community
College (SCC) currently has
an instructional site in Vallejo at the John F. Kennedy Library
Center. SCC has established a new Vallejo Campus on a 10-acre
site in the Northgate area, which will include 40,000 square
feet of classrooms, science and computer labs, an auditorium
and a multi-use facility serving the physical education,
dance and theatre programs. Solano Community College serves
almost 11,000 students from its countywide service area.
SCC holds classes during two semesters (Spring and Fall)
each year, plus Summer sessions. Flexible scheduling, designed
for student convenience, includes day, evening and Saturday
classes, held on and off the campus.
Primary and Secondary
Education
Public Schools:
The public school system in Vallejo is overseen
by the Vallejo City
Unified School District (VCUSD). The
VCUSD supervises over thirty schools with a diverse enrollment
of more than 20,000 students. The Vallejo school district
is comprised of eighteen Elementary Schools, four Middle
Schools, and four High Schools, as well as four Child Care/Pre-School
sites and the Vallejo Adult School.
Charter School:
Mare
Island Technology Academy (MIT Academy)
is Vallejo’s first charter school. The mission of MIT
Academy is to challenge and empower the diverse community
of young people in Vallejo, sixth grade through twelfth grade,
to master a rigorous, interconnected curriculum that equips
students with exceptional academic, technological, social
and life skills and enables them to become self-motivated,
competent lifelong learners.
Private Schools:
Vallejo has an excellent network of private
and parochial schools. Primary schools include St.
Basil’s
Elementary, St. Catherine’s Elementary, North Hills, and St.Vincent’s
Elementary. St. Patrick/St.
Vincent High School is a highly
regarded private Catholic high school with a reputation for
outstanding teachers and instruction.

Vallejo residents have additional local education
opportunities offered by satellite campuses of area colleges
and universities, including Chapman
University and the University
of Phoenix. |
